The Number One Asked Question... What Do We Wear??

Updated: Aug 26, 2021

This is absolutely the number one question I get asked from clients. So, if you're wondering... You are NOT alone. By no means am I a personal shopper, but I can give you some tips on how to make your family shine!

Mix up the colors on the color palette. You've picked out wall paint for your home, right? Well, picture those pallets at the hardware store and pick one up. The colors are not all the same, but they are from the same pallet. Now imagine your family all in a similar shirt color but not exactly the same. Voila!! Coordinate, Don't Match!

What colors do you have in your home?? Hanging prints on the walls is one of my favorite things about family photos. Keeping your attire similar to the colors in your home will help keep things cohesive and cozy.

Are you a little adventurous?? Love animal print?? Keep it to a minimum. If you have a dress, you're dying to wear that a little busy, perfect! But keep it to one shirt for the family. Then build solid colors around that fantastic dress. But don't let yourself get out of hand and add in more prints. This will cause the image to get too busy and take the attention off your wonderful family.

Don't forget your accessories! Have you ever looked in the mirror after putting on your outfit, doing your makeup, and finding the perfect shoes. Something is still missing... You grab those beautiful boho rainbow earrings and "wow," what a world of a difference!! Don't forget your accessories.

Get your clothes ready in advance. Lay them out a couple days before your session. This will allow you to iron something if needed or make a last-minute shoe change. The stress of just getting everyone showered, hair, and teeth brushed. "Woof," You don't need to think about the outfits too. And remember, don't forget the accessories!

Last but defiantly not least, BE COMFORTABLE!! Too often, we buy new clothes for family photos, and they are so uncomfortable. Would you wear brand new shoes to a wedding? I mean, we have all done it, and it turns out with you walking barefoot on the dance floor. But if you are comfortable, you can dance the night away and not have to worry.

Places To Shop That Won’t Break The Bank.

My new favorite find is Shein. Super cute rompers, dresses, and shoes at a low price. We’re talking shoes for littles for $8. Can’t beat that!!

Whether you’re looking to buy a trendy item to wear for the current season, or a classic piece that will last you years, H&M is a great place to start. They have EVERYTHING you might want – from cute tops and fabulous dresses to statement jewelry, scarves, and even shoes.

Jeans can get super expensive, but they are an essential piece of clothing. Luckily Old Navy has affordable jeans that come in many different styles, cuts, and fits. No matter what your body type, you’ll be able to find your new favorite pair. They have no only jeans but also great tops and dresses!

Get lost for hours sorting through designer brands at Marshalls/TJ Maxx. If you are one of my clients, I probably don’t have to tell you about these two. But just in case you got lost stressing about your family photos, here is your reminder.
